DISCOVER CHU MOM RAY NATIONAL PARK
The total area of Chu Mom Ray special-use forest is about 54,583.59 ha, of which production forest accounts for 1,665.64 ha, and the buffer zone is about 188.749 ha. It is home to ethnic minority communities, most notably the Gia Rai and Ro Mam people.
The flora in Chu Mom Ray National Park is very diverse in terms of species and status. According to statistics, there are about 1,543 species, including 113 rare species belonging to the orchid family, gymnosperm family, species of Dipterocarpaceae, cycads, Kim Giao, Cam Lai, Bamboo pine, ebony, etc.
The fauna is equally diverse, as statistics show that Chu Mom Ray has 718 species, including 115 mammal species, 275 bird species, 41 reptile species, amphibians, 108 fish species, and 179 insect species. Among them are 124 rare animal species listed in the Vietnam and world Red Book, such as Truong Son muntjac, gaur, Indochinese tiger, red-cheeked gibbon, fire leopard, elephant, black bear, ... new 4-striped false lizard, white-lipped snake, chrysanthemum-fronted snake, ... hornbill, eagle, peacock, ...
The pride of Chu Mom Ray National Park is that it has many rare species listed in the Vietnam and the World Red Book. In addition, Chu Mom Ray also owns a large grassland (Ja Book Valley), which is ranked as the largest in Vietnam, with more than 9,000 hectares, attracting many species of ungulates, carnivores, and hundreds of species of reptiles and amphibians to live.
Here, there is the Chu Mom Ray mountain range, at high peaks such as Ngoc Vil, Ngoc Tu Ba, and Chu Mom Ray peak, ... which is also the habitat of many species of primates and tree-dwelling animals such as langurs, gibbons, ... and rare birds such as hornbills, peacocks, ...
Recognizing the biodiversity of Chu Mom Ray National Park, the Management Board of Chu Mom Ray National Park has actively contacted the International Fund for Conservation of Wildlife to develop projects to conserve precious genetic species.
When visiting Chu Mom Ray, visitors can not only admire the majestic natural scenery but also visit the villages of ethnic minorities living here. Visitors will get to know the ethnic communities of Gia Rai, Hlang, Ro Mam, Ko Dong, or the smallest ethnic group, Bo Rau. When staying overnight, visitors will stay in airy communal houses or communal houses, and enjoy specialties of the Central Highlands such as bamboo rice, wine, pounded salt, and herbs. Currently, the tourism industry of Kon Tum province has a policy to develop tourist routes in Chu Mom Ray National Park. In addition to the natural scenery, we can also learn more about the culture and people of Gia Rai with Ro Mam while enjoying the specialties of the Central Highlands. If we visit Chu Mom Ray National Park in October and November every year, we will be able to see the golden ripe rice flowers and participate in the new rice welcoming ceremony and the new rice celebration festival after the harvest of the people living here.
