Buu Long Pagoda
Location and Size: Buu Long Pagoda is situated at 81 Nguyen Xien Street, Long Binh Ward, District 9, Ho Chi Minh City. The temple is approximately 20 km away from the city center, nestled on a hill west of the Dong Nai River. Officially known as the Buu Long Meditation Monastery, it was established in 1942 and underwent renovations from 2007 to 2011. The pagoda encompasses various areas, including the courtyard, main hall, monk's quarters, pagoda tower, and ceremonial hall. The temple occupies an expansive 11-hectare compound, enclosed by high walls and triple gates.
Architecture and Art: Buu Long Pagoda features Thai-inspired architecture, drawing inspiration from the original Buddhist architecture originating from India. The pagoda boasts several outstanding architectural structures, with the main hall standing out the most. This hall, dedicated to Thich Ca Mau Ni Buddha and other Buddhas, resembles a white castle adorned with intricate patterns and sharp motifs. The main hall's roof is crowned with three bell towers that rotate 360 degrees. In front of the main hall, two stone dragons gracefully coil. Inside, the hall offers a spacious and elegant space adorned with paintings depicting the life of the Buddha. Additionally, the pagoda includes other architectural elements such as the monk's quarters, where monks reside, and the ceremonial hall, where festivals and communal activities take place.
