Immersed in that quiet space, we hear echoing from afar the chorus of Chau Van singing carried by the water, making people's souls flutter. Those are the sounds resounding from the temple of Lady Thac Bo located in the territory of two communes Thung Nai (Cao Phong) and Vay Nua (Da Bac district), Hoa Binh province.
After the boat docked, the whole group followed the steps up the stairs to worship Thac Bo temple, which is located high above in a charming and poetic space. The epitaphs, mossy tiled roofs, and the breath of history bring people back to the old story of a brave, patriotic Muong ethnic girl. In the past, the temple was just a small temple built of bamboo right at the foot of Thac Bo. After many restorations, in 2000, the new temple was built spaciously. It has a very prime location.
Legend has it that Lady Thac Bo is a daughter of the Muong ethnic group, whose real name is Dinh Thi Van, the daughter of a patriarch of the land of Hoa Binh. History books record, while King Le Loi fought against the Ming invaders, when going to Thac Bo, Thung Nai, Dinh Thi Van called on people in the area to collect food to help Le Loi's army. At the same time, Lady Van also mobilized forces to use bamboo and wood to build rafts, build boats to help the army cross the Da River, to fight the enemy in the Cat Han Pass in Lai Chau.
When Le Loi's army returned victoriously, Lady Dinh Thi Van held a festival to welcome troops, and at the same time supported the army to return to the capital. With the above great merits, Lady Van was entrusted by the court to govern the land of the Muong people in Hoa Binh. She taught the Muong people how to grow crops, raise livestock, fish, and work in the fields, helping them to have a comfortable and full life. In her free time, she often rowed boats to admire the scenery of the Da River and the majestic mountains. When she died, King Le Loi allowed the people here to set up a temple to worship her, since then, people around often call the temple the temple of Lady Thac Bo.

Under the deep blue water, the temple is reflected with a majestic, ancient image. The architecture of the temple is designed in a very unique nail shape. It consists of three compartments and a harem, two floors leaning against the mountain, facing northwest. On the roof of the temple is arranged a pair of two dragons adoring the moon. The path to the temple is designed into small paths along the riverbank with nearly 108 steps, curving at the top floor of the temple. In 2009, Thac Bo Temple was recognized by the Hoa Binh Provincial People's Committee as a provincial historical and cultural relic.
Entering the temple, visitors will be immersed in the mystical spiritual space, and at the same time immerse themselves in the heroic stories of ancient times, when Lord Thac Ba called on the Muong people to help King Le fight the enemy. In addition, at the temple, there is also the belief of Hau Dong, it is performed by itself with gentle voices, captivating people's hearts as if deepening the spiritual atmosphere in the charming countryside.
